My American Dream

I want each of us to leave in peace and live the lives we dream of.

Your dream may opulent and fantastic,

Your dream may be to live quietly and humbly,

Your dream may be filled with children and grandchildren,

Your dream may be to be unfettered by the responsibility of family,

Your dream may be to achieve fame and amass fortune,

Your dream may be to be alone with your books or hobbies,

Your dream may be to create art or music or theater,

Your dream may be to build skyscrapers or fly to the stars,

Your dream may be to feel no fear wherever you are, wherever you go,

Your dream may be to practice your faith uninterrupted, out in the open,

Your dream may be to hold the hand of the one you love and live your lives together and always,

Your dream may be to not have to worry about getting sick because there is time and resources to let you heal,

Your dream may be to grow old and not worry if there always be a roof over your head and food on the table,

Your dream may be to learn as much as you can about everything,

Your dream may be to know all there is about a very few things,

Your dream may have a little of many or all of those things,

Or just a few,

Or none at all.

If you can fulfill your dreams without crushing those of others then you should pursue them.

If you can make your dreams a reality without hurting others or forcing others to live yours, then you should strive to achieve them.

If you can follow your dreams without the condemnation of others, you should.

I know it's not this simple. But it could be.
